Could you tell the visitors about your Lure?
Obviously inspired by the works of
Ben Pon, the piece is an ode
to aerodynamics and streamlined design aknowledgeing the similarities
between moving an object both through water and air. References
to the works of
Billy Gibbons of southern rock mega-band ZZ top fame are
prominent as well. In addition, I owned and lived in a 1967 year model
of the inspirational vehicle off and on for 5 years of my life.
How did you end up being an artist?
After high school, I found working in a butcher shop cutting steaks to
be boring...so I went to art school.
Who are some of your greatest artistic influences?
Van Halen (Diamond Dave only of course), AC/DC, Black Sabbath, and now
DragonForce
What music do you have in heavy rotation right now?
See above.
What do you do for fun?
Work on my 1971 BMW 2002 (currently restoring after I caught it on fire
in a big way due to a faulty fuel pump), spend a lot of time in the
outdoors, wish I could play guitar, scuba dive, drink...and of course...
the usual... Bowl. Drive around. The occasional acid flashback.
When was the last time you went fishing?
2001, in Alaska on a NOLS course. Everyone else had fly rods because
it's "the pure and artistic way to fish." I had a spinning rod with a
simple and classic
Mepps Aglia spinner.
In one hour of fishing, I pulled in 9 Arctic Grayling while the rest of
my more "highbrow" fishing partners scored none. I still shared...they
were tasty (The fish, not my fellow fisherpersons.)
Do you have any words of wisdom for new or aspiring artists?
Stay away from the gin....it's evil stuff. Whiskey, now that's another
story...
